7 Super Beaches near Buena Park, CA

Buena Park is a highly sought-after place to live and visit in California. It’s a great neighborhood with lots to do and very close to the shore. We’ve collected 7 amazing beaches near Buena Park, CA for those days when the sun just can’t stop shining.

In Buena Park, you are always super close to some beaches. You can visit tons of spots within just a few miles of driving. Driving in this area though is a lot slower than driving in open country, so expect at least 30 mins or more like 1 hour to reach the beaches we’ve selected.

Of course, these picks only represent our favorite beaches near Buena Park, CA. You can reach many other places within a reasonable time and if you drive a bit more then there are almost too many beaches to pick from.

However, we had to draw a line somewhere. Whatever we selected is usually within 40 minutes of driving or less.

1. Knott’s Soak City

Distance: N/A – In Town
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/LctN2eMy9VUUR59G7

First up is the local waterpark. Usually, we leave waterparks at the very end of the list but we think that Knott’s Soak City is such a local amusement that we must mention it first!

It’s got everything you would want from a waterpark. Multiple slides from small through big to huge so everyone can find the thrill they are looking for. There is a nice wave pool as well as a big river attraction.

You’ll find a small ‘oasis’ for children complete with a small playground for the youngest of visitors. Knott’s Soak City is one of the greatest beaches in Buena Park, however, if you are after actually swimming, it’s not the best option.

Otherwise, we highly recommend the place. The only drawback? $49.99 for the daily admission. Quite the steep price! So, if you are not ready to pay so much for a day out, let’s move on to our other picks!

2. Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center

Distance: 4 miles – 10 mins
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/wKzCH6tzuckNAjEN7

We’ve started with a waterpark so we are sticking with the theme, at least for the time being. More specifically we mean the ‘Buccaneer Bay’ area of Splash. It’s a much smaller waterpark but the single-day admission is only $25 and the season ticket is $65.

You’ll find similar attractions here than you would at Knott’s. There are slides of multiple sizes, a play area for small kids, and a lazy river. What’s missing is the wave pool, but you have a swimming pool instead which makes this one ultimately better for adults.

Splash! is a nice option if you don’t want to drive a lot, although, it’s still more expensive then going to the shore and choosing a state beach.

3. Bolsa Chica State Beach

Distance: 17 miles – 40 mins
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/Xe3U5YyY4DkCMVwB9

Bolsa Chica State Beach

Bolsa Chica State Beach is a pristine beach with lots of shells scattered along the shore. The waves are nice, and there are many local surfers who take advantage of the good surfing conditions.

It’s a great place to watch surfers ride the waves, and the water is beautiful. Kids enjoy building sandcastles, but they need to be mindful of the waves. Luckily the beach has lifeguards on duty to keep everyone safe and sound.

There is a $20 fee for parking, but usually, there are empty spots, so it’s not an overcrowded place. We love Bolsa Chica State Beach as it’s relatively quiet. It’s always clean and nice here so this is why we recommend it as the first ocean beach near Buena Park.

4. Huntington State Beach

As the sun sets, it’s the perfect time to relax and take in the beautiful yellow sand and superb sunsets. There are plenty of great shops and restaurants nearby so food is never really an issue.

Parking is pretty cheap around and you’ll also find street parking nearby. The street parking is free with a one-hour limit so if you want to park for free you got to move the car around a bit. However, if you just want some beach time in the afternoon this is a great place.

6. Long Beach City Beach

Distance: 20 miles – 30 mins

Long Beach City Beach is a beautiful beach with amazing city views. We had a really nice experience there. The beach is wide, with plenty of room for everyone.

There are a lot of shops and restaurants nearby for when you need a break from the sun. The bike lanes along the beach make it easy to explore the area, and there’s a walking path for those who don’t want to ride.

There are plenty of recreational opportunities, from beach volleyball to simply lounging on the beach. While the beach itself is generally quite clean, we did find a bit of trash around the more popular areas.

Don’t let that deter you though, as this beach is so big that you can easily find cleaner parts of the beach. With its great views, plenty of exciting activities, and convenient amenities, Long Beach City Beach is the perfect destination for a day of fun in the sun. It’s also one of the most popular beaches near Buena Park, CA.
