1. Belchertown Town Beach

There are many lakes around Springfield. Unfortunately, most of them offer quite a mediocre experience when it comes to the beach. They are often dirty and neglected. However, if you want a lake beach near town then you should be looking at Belchertown Town Beach.

It’s a simple place but it does have a small patch of sand where you can settle down, relax, and dip your toes into the water. There are amenities like showers and bathrooms as well making it a complete place.

At only 30 minutes of driving, it’s certainly one of the best options if you want to go to the beach. However, it’s still just a lake beach so it will never be as exciting as going to the ocean.

There is an entry fee for people out-of-town but it’s not too expensive. Many of the ocean beaches charge more for parking.

Hammonasset Beach State Park offers an impressive stretch of coastline that is easily accessible to families with an ample amount of parking available. This destination is perfect for those who are seeking a tranquil and picturesque setting to unwind and enjoy the sun, surf, and sand.

In addition, visitors can take advantage of the shaded dining area that serves affordable and appetizing cuisine, as well as the generously sized public restrooms that feature convenient baby changing stations.

Visitors from outside the area are welcome for an entry fee of $22 on weekends and $15 on weekdays. The park has plenty of parking spaces, ensuring that all visitors can conveniently access its amenities. Make sure to arrive early as it gets really crowded in the summer.

This place is clean, the water is always nice, and it’s perfect for swimming. Be aware, there are not many other attractions than the outdoor swimming pool so don’t expect anything fancy.

However, if you are looking for a place to swim, sunbathe, and spend some hours then this is a fine choice. There are other pools nearby but this is our favorite.
