The city is the perfect place to get acquainted with true Puglia cuisine so let’s take a look at all the places to eat when you are in Ostuni.

Before we get into the ins and outs of eating in Ostuni we highly recommend that you check out our guides on things to do in Ostuni and the best places to visit near Ostuni.

Our favorite resturants in Ostuni

1. Spessite

As we’ve already highlighted in our two day Ostini itinerary we absolutely love Spessite. It’s small, it’s local, and above all it’s great. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere inviting.

We recommend the 20 euros menu which will get you 3 courses of local meals. It’s one of the best ways to try the food of Puglia.

Spessite is truly a gem among restaurants in Ostuni. It’s off the beaten path in a sidestreet. From the outside, it looks absolutely unremarkable and it’s doesn’t have a lavish interior. However, the home-style cooking makes up for everything.

Where: Via Alessandro, Via Giovanni Antonio Petrarolo, 36, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: try the multi-course tasting menu or ask staff for recommendations, they will get you something local

2. Osteria Del Tempo Perso

A great pick and has a very unique atmosphere. As one of the best restaurants in Ostuni, Osteria Del Tempo Perso is carved into the rocks the city stands on. This creates a highly special interior that’s hard to experience outside of Puglia.

This is a great pick for a romantic diner. The restaurant has a nice menu of local Apulian courses where anyone can find something they like. Definitely try the deserts as they are very tasty!

Where: Via Gaetano Tanzarella Vitale, 47, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: local Apulian cuisine

3. Borgo Antico Bistrot

Whenever you visit Borgo Antico Bistrot you will be able to tell that it is a touristy place. We don’t really like to recommend such places because they usually have questionable quality and higher pricing.

On the other hand, we know that the quality at Borgo Antico Bistrot is great and it has one of the greatest views in Ostuni. A nice terrace where you can have an amazing diner looking out onto the Puglia countryside.

Yes, the pricing is a little bit high-end, however, we believe the extra is worth it for the spectacular views.

Where: Via Fina, 8, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: great antipasti

4. Codice A Barre Pizzeria napoletana Ostuni

Right outside the city gates, you will find Codice a Barre. As the full name of the restaurant suggests it’s a pizza place that is specialized in the Neapolitan style of pizza.

What’s amazing about this place? The Margherita is only 5 euros (less than $6!). This is pretty much the cheapest you can go for quality pizza. Luckily their Margherita is awesome. A good tip for you: if a pizza place can make good Margherita they can make all their pizzas very well.

Apart from pizza, there are also some pasta meals and french fries if you are looking for something different.

Where: Piazza della Libertà, 04, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: Pizza

5. Trattoria Sapere E Sapori

Right in the middle of Ostuni is Trattoria Sapere E Sapori. A classic Apulian restaurant with affordable pricing and a great atmosphere.

This is a good place to try out some fish-based meals as they have a great selection and they prepare them well.

You may also opt for some awesome pasta at Trattoria Sapere E Sapori. This is our choice when we come here as they have filling and tasty pasta.

Where: Vico Cantore Incalzi, n.10, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: Pasta or Fish

6. Ristorante La Vecchia Terrazza Ostuni

This is the restaurant with the best views outside of the Ostuni city center. Why outside of the center? Because it has views of the beautiful whitewashed Ostuni historic center. Whenever we visit Ostuni we spend a little effort to visit this place at least once due to the view.

We wouldn’t be coming back if it were only for the views, however. Luckily, the food is also pretty good here. We recommend that you get the daily special or the tasting menu. Both have nice value for money.

Where: Via Benedetto Brin, 7/ 9, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: the daily special

7. Osteria Ricanatti

Osteria Ricanatti is the best pick for those who are looking for fine dining in Ostuni. This place is an aspiring Michelin restaurant although there are no stars yet, we are sure that they are not far away!

The foods are all amazing tasting and do they look beautiful. Whenever you receive a plate in Osteria Ricanatti you will get excited to see what kind of creation the chef has come up with this time around.

Where: Corso Camillo Benso Cavour, 37, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: Apulian fine dining

8. Sho Ann

After spending some time in Puglia you might start missing international cuisine. It is true, Puglia is chock full of awesome local restaurants but there is a lack of real international cuisine.

Sho Ann is there to fill this void for you. It’s a Japanese restaurant that serves awesome sushi and some classic Asian meals. We felt it’s great to sometimes do something different and sushi is very refreshing on a Southern Italy vacation.

Where: Via Abba Cesare, 4, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: sushi

9. Tavola Calda Pizzeria Da Bruno di Bruno Marseglia

When you are looking for a cheap place to eat in Ostuni and a place that locals like, then you can’t go wrong with Tavola Calda Pizzeria Da Bruno di Bruno Marseglia. It’s a self-serve restaurant that caters to the local audience.

You walk up to the self-service counters and take whatever you need and pay at the end. Simple stuff. Of course, don’t expect fine dining quality but at value for money this place rocks.

Where: Largo Bianchieri, 41, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: local classics

10. Operaprima – Ristorante Pizzeria

Operaprima is an amazing upscale restaurant just outside of the old town in Ostuni. It offers great seating options and a terrace with views towards the sea.

The food is amazing and there is a great choice of meats, pasta, seafood, and pizza. There is also a really awesome wine list in this restaurant. You can try the local wineries and if you are unsure what to order the staff is always happy to recommend something.

Where: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 48, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy

What to eat: seafood + wine

+1 Cremeria alla Scala

It’s not a restaurant so the Cremeria La Scala is a bonus on the list. It’s an artisan ice cream place with one of the most amazing selections and tastes when it comes to gelato in Ostuni. Seriously, if you are looking to try real Italian gelato, this is the place.

Where: Scalinata Monsignor, Via Tenente Nino Antelmi, 17, 72017 Ostuni BR, Italy
