This is our favorite restaurant in Astypalea in terms of service and quality of cuisine. All of the flavors originate from Crete, and so does the chef, who pours all of his heart and soul into the platters he produces. If you are looking for a wonderful meal at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong with this establishment.

An inconspicuous restaurant in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood. The cuisine is fantastic, the proprietors are kind and inviting, and the decor is minimal. Everything on the menu should be sampled. It was everything done from scratch.

2. Antikastro

Antikastro, a family-run tavern, is located at a terrace that provides stunning views of the sea and the town of Chora. The menu can change from season to season depending on what’s available. It’s hard to go wrong with goat meat roasted in the oven.

Conveniently located on the opposite side of the castle, this restaurant provides the best view among the area’s eateries. There is a wide variety of locally-sourced, delicious, and inexpensive cuisine available. It’s a fantastic deal. A wide variety of salads and sides are available to be shared in a family-style setting, and the amounts are ample.

3. Argo

Authentic Greek cuisine. They make simple dishes by hand, with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. You can experience all the flavors of the Mediterranean in a comfortable and friendly setting. The tzatziki was homemade, the salad was amazing, the bread was delicious, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Argo is a great place to eat if you’re craving Greek food and want to experience the real taste and feel of the local cuisine.

4. Akti Restaurant

Akti is one of the longest-standing and most popular restaurants on the island. As such we simply can’t miss it from our list of best restaurants in Astypalaia. We totally understand why it’s popular with tourists. The place has great service and nice views. The food is very good with a big menu to enjoy.

Whenever you are in Astypalaia we recommend a stop at Akti. Spend at least one night to try this restaurant and enjoy the great atmosphere it provides. We are sure that you will enjoy it. 5. Aíolos

We often find that many of these small Greek islands are all about authenticity. All about local food and local ingredients. However, there always seems to be an odd one out when it comes to restaurants. Here at Astypalea, it’s Aíolos. It’s an Italian restaurant with great Italian foods.

The pizza is always amazing, but we are more fond of pasta. They make amazing pasta and if you love Italian just consider this restaurant at least once. Yes, you will be eating something other than authentic Greek, but Aíolos prepares excellent pasta dishes to enjoy.

6. Gerani Restaurant

Family-owned tavern in Livadia that’s passed from one generation to another. It’s definitely one of those places where you’ll be charmed away at how local and authentic everything feels. From the menu to the presentation you’ll feel right at home.

You’ll find the restaurant right on the Livadia beach so it’s a great choice when you are visiting. Enjoy a good day on the beach and drop by Gerani for an amazing meal before you head back to Chora town.

7. Archipelagos cafe

Not technically a restaurant, but we love Archipelagos cafe regardless. They have pretty good desserts and cakes. The cafe has a nice terrace where you can sit and enjoy the view. You can come here during sunset and grab some drinks or a dessert to enjoy a romantic evening.

8. Turquoise Astypalaia

Street food is the name of the game at Turquoise Astypalaia. Whenever you are looking for a quick bite this is the place to be. You’ll find foods such as Gyros and pastries to go. They make excellent street food that’s perfect to pack for the beach. Yes! Consider stocking up at Turquoise Astypalaia before you head out for a day of swimming and sunbathing.

9. Tásos

You can find Tásos near the airport. It’s a barbeque restaurant that prepares excellent meat. Lovers of tasty meat like lamb will be very welcome here. You can get pork, lamb, goat, and beef here. Everything is cooked on a barbeque grill to give it a real nice smokey taste. This restaurant is a great pick for a night out. Just keep in mind no drinking if you drive your rental car here.
